چکیده

Methods Two reviewers conducted a systematic search of electronic databases (MEDLINE and EMBASE) and hand searched bibliographies. Reviewers extracted data in duplicate, evaluated the quality of the studies based on a 4 point scale, and calculated pooled estimates. Out of 579 unique records screened, 115 full-text articles were assessed for eligibility. We then performed a meta-analysis on 18 eligible studies which reported on the occurrence of MACE in patients with LGE detected after a myocardial infarction.

Relationship between Late Gadolinium Enhancement Extent in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Severity of Coronary Artery Disease in Old Myocardial Infarction

Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...

Prognostic utility of late gadolinium enhancement on cardiac magnetic resonance in cardiac amyloidosis: a meta-analysis

Background Cardiac Amyloidosis (CA) is an important prognostic indicator in patients with systemic amyloidosis. Cardiac MRI has emerged as imaging modality of choice to evaluate patients with CA. Delayed hyper-enhancement cardiac magnetic resonance (DHE-CMR) provides incremental diagnostic and prognostic utility in suspected CA. We performed a meta-analysis to evaluate the prognostic role of LG...

Exclusion of prognostic coronary disease in LV dysfunction using late gadolinium enhancement CMR

Background In new diagnoses of left ventricular (LV) systolic dysfunction it is important to exclude coronary artery disease (CAD) as the cause. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging using late gadolinium enhancement (LGE CMR) highlights fibrosis from ischaemia or infarcts in a subendocardial distribution. Many consider that the absence of LGE indicates an absence of significant CAD. The evidence ...

Total ischemic myocardium is a powerful predictor for adverse cardiac events

Background Imaging techniques may contribute to the proper risk assessment of patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Especially, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) is able to provide important prognostic information by detection of myocardial scarring (late gadolinium enhancement, LGE) and reversible ischemia. Therefore, objective of the present study was to quantify the extent of t...

Cardiomyopathy in Becker muscular dystrophy--does regional fibrosis mimic infarction?

We present a case of a 39-year-old man with Becker muscular dystrophy and severe congestive cardiac failure. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging revealed subendocardial late gadolinium enhancement, similar to that seen in myocardial infarction. He had no risk factors for atherosclerotic coronary artery disease and coronary angiography was normal. We propose that regional subendocardial myocardia...
